Pierce to play Antelope Valley

The Pierce football team will play for their first conference title since 1985 on Saturday.

The game will be played in the friendly confines of Shepard Stadium against Antelope Valley at 7 p.m.

Pierce head Coach Efrain Martinez gave his opponents credit by saying, “Antelope Valley is the team to beat.”

Pierce enters at 6-2 overall and 5-0 in conference, while Antelope Valley enters the 5-3 overall and also 5-0 in conference.

The emphasis of the meeting will be on the Defenses.

Antelope Valley comes in averaging 358.2 total yards per game. Pierce is averaging 413.0 total yards per game.

Pierce players to watch include quarterback Matt Wabby, wide receiver Coleman Edmond, defensive back Brandon Turner and linebacker Brandon Reeves.

Some of the Antelope Valley players to watch are quarterback Josh Firm, running back Kene’ Martin, wide receiver Brandon Mims and linebacker Chris Whitney.

Both teams enter the game on five-game-winning streaks.
