A low-cost vaccine clinic will open to all cat and dog owners on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon in Agriculture Bulding 4100.
Vaccines that will be provided include:
· Dogs – Rabies shots and the DA2PP vaccine, which protects dogs from a variety of ailments.
· Cats – Rabies shots, the FVRCP vaccine, which protects cats from a variety of ailments, and FeLV, which protects cats from the Feline leukemia virus.
The cats and dogs need to be older than eight weeks and need to have been previously screened by a licensed Veterinarian.
The event has taken place at Pierce for years, according to Joy Scruton, president of the Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) club.
It is run by students from the veterinary technology program, who earn valuable real-world experience in practicing restraint techniques and administering the vaccines.
There is a suggested donation price of $10 per vaccine, which according to Scruton is less than half of what the vaccines would normally cost.
“It’s a great way to help out the community,” said Scruton.
Pet owners who are unable to provide a donation will still able to receive the vaccinations.
No appointments are needed.
