All is well at college fair

With the deadline for transfer applications approaching, the college fair on Wed. was helpful in supplying students with transfer information.

This college fair was worth students’ time unlike the previous college fair in Sept.

The previous college fair was geared more for high school students and provided little information for transfer students.

Henry Gonzalez, neurology sciences major, attended the Sept. college fair and left disappointed. This time he was able to talk to the University of California at San Diego representative and receive information on applying to the four-year college.

“Last time, I just came and wasted my time because it was all for high school students,” said Gonzalez.

The event was effective in offering students options with the handouts that were given out.

Able to grab all the necessary pamphlets needed, it was convenient for students to receive information on schools while on the way to class.

Psychology major, Simone Vasquez, 20, hadn’t considered University of California at Davis as one of her transfer schools, however, after she gathered information from the the college fair, her decision process on certain college became harder.

“I was strongly thinking about UCLA, but now I’m not so sure. I’m looking for smaller places,” Vasquez said.

There were representatives of the universities that didn’t interact with the students that approached their tables. Some were even texting away on their cell phones as students looked through handouts and offered no assistance.

Although, after standing in front of a table looking over some handouts, one representative quickly offered their assistance by providing handouts and giving suggestions on other universities.

Considering universities that weren’t previously thought about, the college fair gave students more options. Consequently, students  walked out of the event with motivation to continue working hard to transfer to a university of their choice.
