Pierce College and their Sheriff’s department has elected a new sheriff’s team leader, Deputy Ron Nohles.
Nohles, 39, from Tujunga, Calif., previously worked for West Los Angeles College as a day shift deputy for 17 months.
Nohles has been with the Sheriff’s Department since 1995.
Nohles is familiar with the Pierce College campus. Frequently working overtime at Pierce, while working full-time for West L.A.
According to Nohles, the argiculture, campus size and extra curricular activites are what make this campus a beautiful environment to work in.
While Pierce may have a beautiful campus, Nohles believes that it is also a safe place to be.
“It’s extremely safe here,” said Nohles. “I really haven’t seen any problems around campus.”
Without any real safety threats, Nohels wants to keep up the positive communication between the law forcement and Pierce community.
“We [Sheriff’s Department] can’t be here 24/7,” said Nohles. “We need help from faculty, staff and students. If they see anything suspicious, please let us know.”
Safety isn’t Nohles’ biggest issue—it’s the Sheriff’s Department’s preception.
“I want to treat everyone fairly,” said Nohles. “I will treat everyone like I want to be treated. If somebody from the Sheriff’s office calls or talks to someone, it may not be a bad thing. I just want to get to know the campus.”
