Despite the sweltering heat, the Pierce College women’s soccer team will take to the pitch this afternoon to face Fullerton College at 4 p.m.

The Brahmas come into the 2010 season the Western State Conference Champions, their 5th in a row, and had advanced to the Southern California State Playoffs for the 9th year in a row after finishing with a 17-3-2 record.

Adolfo Perez will return for the 10th year as head coach to help guide veterans and rookies alike toward another championship.

The team will be led by Ani Eishoei, sophomore forward/midfielder and captain, who played an instrumental role in last season’s wins. Eishoei had four goals and four assists, and scored the winning penalty kick in last season’s game against Mt. San Antonio College in the first round of the play offs.

Players to watch:

Eishoei, who will most likely have a more prominence as captain, is good on the ball and can also play more of a defensive role.

Sophomore forward Erica Vangsness, the leading scorer from last season.

Goalie Marissa Graska, who played back up to goalie to Betty Ramirez last season, will be starting between the pipes as a sophomore this season.

The Brahmas opened up the season with a 6-1 win over Cuyamaca College on Aug. 27.

Games are played at The Pit, located next to Parking Lot 7. Regular season games are free.
