Man struck by vehicle – UPDATED

A pedestrian was struck by a car between 5 and 6 p.m., at the intersection of El Rancho Drive and Mason Avenue near the Applied Technology building, according to sheriff’s officials. 

 

The victim was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The identities of both the driver and the victim have not been released.

 

Los Angeles Sheriff’s officials are currently investigating the accident.  

 

Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Lynch, one of the officials who arrived first on the scene, was unavailable for comment after a reporter arranged to speak to him by phone.

According to sheriff Team Leader Ron Nohles: 

 

 

The driver was not a student. 
The victim was slightly off the sidewalk as a result he was not considered to be “J-Walking” at the time of the incident.
The victim was taken to Providence Tarzana Medical Center. 
The condition of victim is still unknown. 
The driver was heading eastbound down El Rancho before making a left onto N. Mason.
