Below you will find some fun facts about our new professors here at Pierce College.  Thank you to all who chose to meet with the Roundup staff and we hope you all have enjoyed your first semester here.

Assistant Professor of Engineering/CAD

Elizabeth Cheung

 

  1. Loves to surf in the California waves in her free time.
  2. Attended University of Cincinnati and played soccer there.
  3. Works on hip replacement implants prior to coming to Pierce College.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Shannon DeVaney

 

 

  1. Was a postdoc fellow at the Los Angeles County National History Museum before coming to work at Pierce College.
  2. Really likes doing research on deep-sea fishes.
  3. Taking lessons in Japanese taiko drumming.
  4. Just ran a marathon in the spring; she will soon be training for another marathon to support an AIDS charity.

  1. Enjoys reading “Already Dead” in her spare time.
  2. Her favorite food is sushi.
  3. Loves writing short stories and hiking.

Lori Nelson

 

  1. Loves to belly dance.
  2. Didn’t learn how to read until she was 8, which is where her passion for helping others with their reading skills come from.
  3. Has hundreds, if not thousands, of books in her personal library.
