Pierce’s spring production hosts final auditions

Cynthia Garcia/ Roundup

Tonight is the last chance to audition for “The Musical of Musicals” the musical at 6:30 p.m. at Pierce College’s Dow Arena Theatre.

According to Director Gene Putnam, Tuesday night’s auditions had a very small turn out, but he expected it because people always wait for the last minute.

90 percent of the work when directing a play is the casting process, according to Putnam.

“It’s important that you have very high-powered singers and actors, who are very serious about the performances,” said Putnam. “The trick is to find what we call a triple threat, someone who can act, sing and dance well.”

There is a chance for callbacks on Monday, but if Putnam finds the talent he is looking for, then the cast roster is expected to be ready early next week.

Look for an update on the auditions tomorrow morning with feedback from those who tried out.
