BuildLACCD program moves into final phase

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) received a report on the BuildLACCD program as it moved into the completion phase during a meeting downtown Wednesday afternoon.

71 percent of bond J money has already been awarded with $1.8 billion going to already completed projects.

The members of the temporary independent oversight committee, which was set up to monitor the massive construction project, were introduced to the LACCD Board of Trustees.

Of the 943 projects under discussion Wednesday, 15 have been completed without DSA approval and 2 of those involved the deaths of the architect’s working them.

“What’s past is past, and the future should be our focus,” said Chancellor LaVista.
