LACCD meets at Valley College

New measures were passed by the Board of Trustees to increase budget transparency and accountability at an Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustee’s meeting Wednesday.

The board has been under scrutiny recently.  They have been accused of misappropriating funds, squandering bond money, and receiving campaign funds from contradictory sources.

A new change to the master budget plan was passed, assigning individual budgets for construction for full public viewing, holding the people in charge more accountable for their decisions.

The board also passed a measure to ensure the District Citizens’ Oversight Committee  has the power to distribute bond money appropriately.

Initiative 1481 was also passed, endorsing the taxing of the extraction of crude oil for educational purposes.
