ASO rents parking lot from district

The Associated Students Organizations (ASO) rents the college’s parking lot space from the district, said Brad Saenz, ASO advisor.

Those students who have paid the $7 ASO fee, have the option of buying the $27, preferred parking passes.  Regular parking passes are $20

The ASO receives $7 from the parking passes and that is how they get their funds, according to Saenz.  Every year the ASO pays the district $1,000 to renew the parking lot lease.

The campus received approximately $470,000 last year from the parking passes,  he said.

A preferred parking pass will allow students to park anywhere on campus except Parking Lot 5, which is for regular parking according to Elina Likhatcheva.

“The money ASO gets goes to good use,” said ASO Vice President Febe Ruiz.

She said that the money goes back to the students in the form of funds used to organize or support various campus activities, the club carnival and extra hours at the library during finals.
