Anne Le Barbu is leaving her post at Long Beach City College for a full time position at Pierce College as a French teacher.

Le Barbu was born in Bretagne, (Brittany) France. She moved to the United States when she was 24.

Le Barbu’s interest in teaching began while she was a college student and was asked by a professor to teach a language lab.

“I like sharing my culture and language with students,” she said. “Seeing students who continue to learn who come back to see me makes me happy.”

She received her bachelor’s degree from University de Rennes in France and earned her master’s at San Diego University.

She has been teaching for 10 years, spending some time at both East Los Angeles College and Long Beach City College.

Her first class will be on Monday. She will be teaching both French 1 and 2.

“I only have one word for her,” said Chair of Modern Language Department Fernando Oleas. “ Superb.”
