Soccer records milestone victory against Bakersfield
The Pierce College women’s soccer team recorded the program’s 200th victory in a win Friday against Bakersfield College in Bakersfield.
The 3-0 victory over Bakersfield gave the Brahmas their 200th victory through 12 years of women’s soccer at the college.
Freshman forward Jacqueline Hilario, who led Pierce with two first half goals, was aware of the team’s milestone.
“I’m very proud of my team,” Hilario said.
Hilario, who was forced to miss a game against Santa Barbara City College on Sept. 21 due to a cut under her left eye, scored her first goals back in action.
“It feels good to be back,” Hilario said.
Freshman forward Shawnie Moore, who had scored six goals in Pierce’s last two games, suffered a slightly dislocated shoulder in the first half and did not record a goal.
Head coach Adolfo Perez was proud of his team for coming through adversity to win.
“It’s always tough playing here,” Perez said.
Sophomore forward Arely Blanco also scored a goal in the first half.
“I just had a positive vibe thinking we were all going to play really good,” Blanco said. “It feels really good to be a part of this team.”
The win extends the Brahmas’ winning streak to four games in a row.
The Brahmas are now 6-2-0 on the season.
After a game on the road Tuesday at Glendale College, the Brahmas will be back in action at home in The Pit against Santa Monica College Friday at 4 p.m.
