The Pierce College women’s soccer team won its fifth game in a row by defeating their hosts, Glendale College, 4-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
“We played very good in the first half,” said coach Adolfo Perez. “Glendale played a lot of defense in the second half so it was hard for us to get through.”
Edith Dominguez scored the Brahmas’ first goal of the game.
Dominguez added a second goal to that, followed by a by third from Mariela Chopin.
By the end of the first half, the Brahmas were leading 3-0.
“We started off really well in the first half,” Dominguez confirmed. “We were struggling during the second half because their entire team dropped to defense.”
Harmony Durand, the only player who scored during the second half, noted some missed goal opportunities, but was proud of her team nonetheless.
“It was a good game. Every player on our team got to play,” Durand said. “We had a lot of missed chances, but it happens.”
Both Durand and Dominguez gave credit to the strength of their defense.
“Our defense did really well,” Durand said.
“I’m proud of our defense,” Dominguez added. “Our goals started from the back, from defender, mid-field to forward.”
Brahma defender Marlene Mejia stated that this was the third game in a row the Brahmas triumphed with no goal against them.
“The second to last pre-season game against Santa Barbara was the last time someone scored against us,” Mejia said. “We’ve had three games since then.”
The soccer team will be playing their next game at home on Friday against Santa Monica College, right before their game at Citrus College on Tuesday.
