Loss to Moorpark ends football team’s perfect season

After playing four games of nearly flawless football, the Pierce College football team saw its perfect season end when it lost on the road against Moorpark College 21-7.

The Brahmas looked flat offensively as sophomore quarterback Nick Arbuckle went 22-56, throwing only one touchdown and throwing a season-high five interceptions, including one that was returned 25 yards for a touchdown by Moorpark defensive back Kevin McLemore.

The defense held up its end of the bargain by giving up only 14 points, but were haunted by numerous personal fouls that would play a key factor in the game. Pierce altogether had 17 penalties for 142 yds. on both sides of the ball.

“As a team collectively we struggled,” left tackle Justin Long said.

The Brahmas, despite suffering their first loss of the season, still remain undefeated in conference play as they go head-to-head with crosstown rival Los Angeles Valley College on the road next week.
