A 20-year-old male was arrested in the Orange Line parking lot on Winnetka Ave. outside of Pierce College at 12:30 p.m. according to Los Angeles Sheriffs and campus officials.

The male, identified as Tyshaun Middleton, was in the parking lot flagging down a white BMW and was seen jumping onto the hood and hitting the front windshield until it sped off. Los Angeles Sheriff deputies and campus officials were on the scene at 12:35 where seven officers surrounded Middleton before making the arrest.

Middleton, who had an outstanding warrant for arrest according to officials, was arrested and charged with making criminal threats. (Penal Code 422)

“He wasn’t calm and we had to surround the suspect and make sure he wasn’t a threat,” Deputy Robert Carangi said.

Middleton has a checkered past within the Pierce College area. Nearly a year ago, Middleton was arrested at Pierce College for making death threats, threatening to do bodily harm and assaulting Pierce instructor Michael Shilf. During his arrest last year, he also kicked and broke the window of a sheriff’s vehicle.

“If people see him next time he is in and around campus, we advise people in the area to tell police,” Carangi said.
