Baseball team lose in shutout

The Pierce College baseball failed to put up a run on the scoreboard in a 6-0-shutout loss on the road against East Los Angeles College on Thursday, Feb 27.

The Brahmas started off their scoreless game in the first inning after ELAC pitcher Shawn Kennedy, who gave two hits in the entire game, blew the first three batters he faced . In the bottom of the first, ELAC did not waste any opportunities and got off to a hot start scoring two runs off of two hits.

ELAC continued to hit the ball well into the bottom of the third. Outfielder Silvestri Sanchez added to ELAC’s lead after his double scored two runs.

The Brahma’s offensive woes continued into the sixth inning where they finally got a hit off of Kennedy. Kennedy would not pitch the rest of the inning and finished off the night by walking two batters, and striking out nine.

ELAC sealed their win in the bottom of the seventh after scoring a run off an error. The run was scored when Brahmas shortstop, Austin Peters committed an error which allowed catcher, David Sanchez to score, after walking earlier in the inning.

Pierce will try and bounce back against LA Harbor on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m.
