Sources close to the Pierce College football team confirmed that Brahmas head coach Efrain Martinez and defensive coordinator Juan Navarro are finalists for the vacant head coaching job at Los Angeles Valley College.
In recent years Valley has been struggling after completing the 2013 season with an overall record of 4-6 and tying for last in the Western State Conference with a record of 1-6.
Last season the Monarchs got hammered by the Brahmas in embarrassing fashion, losing 42-9 at home.
Besides having played his high school football at Van Nuys, Martinez also served as the offensive line and tight end coach for Valley during the 2000-2001 season.
The final decision is expected to be announced on Friday, May 9, on who will become Valley College’s next football coach.
