Softball team pitches shutout and gets shutout

In its first three games of the preseason the Pierce College softball team went 1-2.

The first game of the season was at home against Los Angeles Mission College where the Brahmas lost 10-1 in six innings on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Mission kept Pierce to a disappointing four hits in 23 at bats.

The only run batted in by Pierce was from infielder Kasmire Minjarez in the bottom of the 5th.

In the next two games Pierce went on the road and faced Barstow Community College and College of the Desert on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Brahmas defeated Barstow 10-3 in seven innings, scoring four runs in each of the first two innings.

Pierce did not have a pitching change, with Nicole Linderman getting her first win of the season.

After scoring 10 runs, Pierce was shutout in its second game of the day giving up 11 runs to College of the Desert in five innings.

In a double shutout, the Brahmas and Los Angeles Harbor College had a tied game on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Pierce.

Pierce and Harbor went seven innings.

The Pierce College softball team will continue its season on Friday, Feb. 20 on the road against Pasadena City College at 2 p.m.
