A line of cars wait to be worked on by students as the garage of the Automotive Technology Building comes alive with the sounds of air-powered, pneumatic impact wrenches, engine revs and the metallic clink of tools being dropped on the ground.

The department offers certification and degrees within the automotive field, such as advanced-level hybrid diagnostic technician, automotive emission specialist and performance applications that provides students with the necessary skills to jump into the auto industry.

 Despite the mandatory evacuation orders in Los Angeles County being lifted, the @americanredcross evacuation shelter remains active at @pierce_college. Consolidated to the North Gym, less than 100 evacuees remain of the more than 1000 estimated to have come through the shelter during the fires.  @pierce_college Interim President Larry Buckley being interviewed by @abc7la at the @americanredcross evacuation center located at Pierce College.
