Child-friendly pumpkin gets green light

The Pierce College Harvest Festival has a newly-added animated character, Spookley the Square Pumpkin, who delivers a top notch show with a moral endearing to young children.

The friendly, adorable square pumpkin whose motto is, “Sometimes being different makes all the difference in the world,” can be seen at the festival daily every 30 minutes until 6 p.m.

The live stage show teaches children that being different isn’t a bad thing.

The different songs that encouraged child participation makes the Spookley show kid-friendly.

At the end of the 15 minute show children as well as adults are encouraged to get up and dance as Spookley finishes the show with an upbeat song about how his being a square pumpkin makes him all the better.

He also teaches kids that a “perfect pumpkin” is what you want it to be.

The show’s length was surprising because with all the hype surrounding Spookley a longer show was expected.

Also, the fact that Spookley stays put the entire show is a disappointment.

If he could come out into the audience and participated with the children that would have been better.

After the show kids can go into the surrounding pumpkin patch and actually pick their own “perfect pumpkin” for $4.

The show seems more focused toward the seven-and-under age group, but there were older children there who seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Overall, Spookley and his show get a “B+” for his appeal to children because all the kids there seemed to really enjoy his show.
