Growing up with an alcoholic father didn’t exactly bring about the easiest childhood. The best way to describe being 8 years old and taking care of my 3-year-old brother is like walking on eggshells around my dad. One day it could be peaches and the next, disaster, with a slap to the face and a night in my room.

Vietnam Vets to speak at ‘Piece of my Heart’ matinee
“A Piece of My Heart,” portrays the experiences of female nurses in Vietnam, a roundtable discussion will immediately follow the Saturday matinee performance featuring Vietnam veterans. The discussion is free and open to the public and hopes to answer questions people may have about what life was like in war-torn Vietnam.
Celebrating ‘Don Quixote’
Heavy winds and cold temperatures were not enough to sway students along with members of the community from participating in Monday’s read-a-thon commemorating the 400th anniversary of Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes’ novel “Don Quixote.” The event took place on the campus mall in front of the library and was organized by Spanish professor Fernando Oleas.
