The Pierce College women’s soccer team pummeled Citrus College, 3-0, during their match Friday in Glendora.Working well together, Pierce’s attack and defense was very balanced throughout the game.”We had a balanced attack [and] very good defense,” said Adolfo Perez, coach of the Pierce women’s soccer team. “We got five straight shutouts.”Even though they finished with a victory, Perez saw some problems out on the field.”We need to work on our corner kicks,” says Perez, “our corner kicks sucked during the game.”Also, Perez was a little disappointed with how the team handled the game.”There’s a lack of concentration with the team at the beginning of the game,” says Perez. “The team is used to playing bad during the first half of the game and then starting to play good in the second half.”Either way, the team players did feel confident with the opponents of Citrus College.”[Citrus] is probably one of the hardest teams we’ve played so far,” says Lisette Alfe, freshman defensive player for Pierce. “We feel more [comfortable] playing even harder teams after winning this game.”Perez felt confident as well during the game with Citrus College.”We did better because the opponents were a better team and they played harder,” said Perez. “As a team, we are a whole entity.”Pierce had a game against Santa Monica College yesterday, but the score was not available at press time. The Brahmas return Friday to face Mission College, the game starts at 4.
