The Pierce College Council met Thursday to discuss multiple topics concerning the campus and its students’ sociability.Among the issues discussed in the meeting were a visit to Pierce by Sasaki Associates, Inc., an architectural firm, and also figuring out a way to make the campus a more sociable one for students.”(A) campus can be influenced by the structure,” said Nabil Abu-Ghazaleh, vice president of academic affairs.A big issue concerning the campus is its setup. It doesn’t allow for much socialization for the students.Another matter which was brought up was the color scheme of the campus.All of this is brought on by the fact that Pierce is a multicultural campus.”It would be interesting to see other cultural perspective,” said Izzy Goodman, chair of the chemistry department.The Sasaki group will be returning to Pierce in late November to meet with everyone and discuss what can be done.Members of the Pierce College Council said they feel they can benefit from what the Sasaki group is saying to them. Students are being surveyed by the Associated Students Organization on what their desires are.The Pierce College Council and the Educational Planning Committee will be meeting again to discuss the issue.Mark Pracher, chair of the Pierce College Council, said coming to the meetings is really important.As the meetings with the Sasaki group take place, the fate of the Pierce campus hangs in the balance.
