Backpacks stuffed with clothing and toys are bound for the American Indian children attending Turtle Mountain Elementary School in North Dakota, as part of the Walking Shield American Indian Society, Saturday. Dr. Leland Shapiro, professor of animal science, and members of the pre-veterinary club have been collecting backpacks each year for the past 20 years.
