Pierce nets $2.5 million in grants

Millions of dollars in grant money has been awarded to Pierce College recently, including $2,038,306 to help fund online course development and $359,757 for the Pierce Early Childhood Education (PECE) program. More than $189,135 was awarded across numerous other grants, most of which were submitted early in the year and approved in August and September.

In a recent trip to Las Vegas, I was involved in an accident. A woman backed up into my car leaving a huge dent. We took the standard practice of exchanging information and insurance policies and we made our way back to our destinations. Days later, after making numerous calls to her insurance provider we finally settled and my car was going to be fixed, and I was going to find out that my license was going to be suspended.

Champions

The Pierce College women’s basketball team emerged champions of the sixth annual Brahma Thanksgiving Shoot-Out this past weekend in the Pierce gymnasium. Pierce had reached the tournament’s final game in each of the past three seasons, but had never won it all.

Blood drive

The American Red Cross and the Pierce College ASO partnered up to give students and volunteers the opportunity to save the lives of many Californians. The Pierce blood drive was held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 20 and 21, and gave participants a chance to win a $500 cash prize.
