A witty romance that keeps on playing

Arnavaz Fatemi

Broken hearts, real connections, a drunken mess and a good soundtrack make the perfect elements of a soon-to-be classic-movie, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

Like many movies, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is based on a book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.

We first meet Nick, played by Michael Cera, sulking over his break up with ex-girlfriend Tris, played by Alexis Dziena.

By a twist of fate, Nick and Norah (Kat Dennings) meet while Norah asks Nick to be her boyfriend to fool people and suddenly kisses him.

The movie gets going while Nick, Norah and friends try to find where their favorite band, “Where’s Fluffy?,” is playing a secret show in New York City.

In a twist of events, Nick’s friends lose Norah’s drunk and wild best friend Caroline (Ari Graynor), which starts the search for Fluffy and Caroline.

Going into this movie, I thought it was going to be another movie with the typical “dorky Indie hero” and music-fanatic heroine for Hollywood to exploit an underground music scene. However, I was completely proven wrong throughout the movie.

Not only was the soundtrack actually full of great artists, the characters portrayed perfectly what they set out to be.

Cera played a great awkward, heartbroken teenager who only knows how to express himself perfectly with endless amounts of mix CDs. To add to the awkward genius of Cera, the chemistry of Cera and Dennings was a match made in casting heaven.

All in all, this movie will get you laughing, crying and send chills down your spine.
