Cafeteria gains wireless Internet

Renaming the Pierce College cafeteria to the Country Cafe last winter gave it a more modern feel, and now the dining area offers wireless Internet.

The wireless service is free with any purchase.

There are many varieties of food for sale at the cafeteria including breakfast muffins, pizza and beverages, and the Brahma deli carries hot and cold sandwiches, even for vegetarians.

For those students on a budget who still want a home-cooked meal, there is a new “blue plate special,” costing less than $6. Main courses include fried chicken, pork and macaroni prepared by Chef Jose Cruz. High-demand Persian food is also prepared by Chef Fery Azad.

Students have already begun to take advantage of the wireless Internet.

“I use the wireless Internet to connect online by my phone,” said computer science major Kelsey Dacosta.

It did not take much to install, just a few wires and a little help from plant facilities at Pierce.

“The wireless Internet was installed in the Country Cafe to provide more services for students,” said Brian Silk, administrative analyst. “they will be able to eat their lunch or dinner and do their homework at the same time.”

The Freudian Sip Cyber Cafe located right next to the Student Store, also has wireless Internet.

We are sure to expect more technology for our campus with upcoming renovations.

The Country Cafe can seat up to 231 students and is located between Parking Lot 7 (off of Victory) and the Campus Center. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
