Mothers are seen as women who might take care of the family, do the laundry, cook dinner, going to work after dropping the children off at school and picking them up after school if they miss the school bus. They are rarely imagined as students going to school, however, many of them attend classes at Pierce College everyday.

“Infama Moralia” written by Pierce College Spanish Professor Fernando Oleas is a book composed of 1365 vivid and compelling stanzas that take you back to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The book is written in Spanish. The title comes from Latin meaning Infamous Moral.

Women take third place in turkey day tournament

Unable to repeat as champions of the seventh annual Brahma Thanksgiving Shoot-Out, Pierce College instead brought home the third place trophy, beating East Los Angeles College, 97-67 Sunday afternoon in the South Gym. Rio Hondo College captured this year’s championship, defeating Citrus College in overtime, 99-91, capping off the weekend-long tournament.

The end of the streak

The number-one-ranked women’s volleyball team at Pierce College ended their 61-home-game winning streak in the second round of regionals, with about half of the spectators cheering for Orange Coast College (OCC) at the South Gym Saturday night. Pierce finished out the state finals 1-1, with a season score of 30-2.
