Pierce College won their game against rival L.A. Valley College today at home.
Left fielder James Wharton knocked out a grand slam as part of a seven-run second inning, helping the Brahma’s secure a 11-4 win. All seven runs came with two outs.
Starting pitcher Mike LaRosa held off the Monarchs until the top of the third inning, when he gave up a run to left handed outfielder Alex Gaudioso.
Pierce catcher Ryan Gaspora struck out in the bottom of the fourth and then crossed in front of Valley catcher Sam Arce, while he was trying to throw out David Whetstone, who was trying to steal second.
Pierce will face off against the Monarchs again on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Valley College.
