The pedestrian mall gets a facelift

Gary Moratz / Roundup

Construction on the pedestrian mall is scheduled to start Wednesday and will begin near the Freudian Sip and extend just pass the Library. The site will close the main mall walkway, so detoured paths have been instituted.

The construction will be divided into two phases. Phase one is scheduled to finish by August 2009, prior to the start of the fall semester. The second phase will be determined by the completion of the first phase and has not yet been scheduled.

During construction the Freudian Sip, Student Store, library and all other services along the mall will remain open.

Construction along the mall may also cause increased noise and dust to classrooms near the construction site. As in the past, the construction crew will work with staff and faculty to minimize the disturbance as much as possible.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the pedestrian mall project can contact Larry Kraus, associate vice president of administrative services, by phone at 818-710-2849. A map of the detour routes is provided.
