Two plant facilities employees were injured today and transported to the hospital after trying to shut off a gas line when a kiln combusted on the Fine Arts Hill.
According to Sheriff’s Deputy Jeanine Swanson, the two were trying to assist in lighting the kiln after other employees were having difficulties starting it.
“It wasn’t much of an explotion,” said Swanson. “It was similar to lighting a match and using hairspray to fuel it.”
The employees were transported to Providece Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, Calif. with speculation of possible first and second degree burns.
