Jesse Garber, son of former Pierce College President Robert Garber, received his liver transplant Wednesday night at UCLA Medical Center.
The transplant was a success according to an email sent by Miwako T. Johnson, executive assistant at the President Office at Pierce College.
The email was sent on behalf of Robert and Rebecca Garber who have been helping Jesse through his illness. Since the announcement of his son’s illness, Robert has retired from his position as Pierce president in order to care for his son.
The blood drive that was to take place on Aug. 25 will continue as scheduled in order to replace supplies that were used during Jesse’s operation.
