 The Pierce College women’s soccer team played their first rainy game winning big 7-0 victory at the Pit against L.A. Mission College on Tuesday.

 

“I was actually a little afraid before tonight’s game coming off a hard win against Santa Monica College, but I am happy with the win tonight,” Said Head Coach Adolfo Perez.

 

As the rain poured  down, it made it harder and harder for the Lady Brahmas to get points scored.

 

The Brahmas, 9-1-1, wasted no time getting on the board with Megan Quinn’s beautiful goal in the 8th minute over the opposing goalies head for the first goal of the game.

 

Brahmas defense kept Mission College shot on goal percentage low by suffocating them with great defense not the owls of Mission College get past midfield.

 

After a slight scoring slump Stephanie Cubias has really began to heat up, scoring an agressive goal during the 18th minute giving her 2 on the year.

 

Approaching the 40th minute Rachel Kove scored a rare but spectacular goal shooting from midfield and stunning the crowd this was 1 of her 2 goals.

 

“It was incredible, that is probably one of the best goals of the year,” said Coach Perez of Kove’s goal.

 

“That was so unexpected I just shot it and hoped it went in that was awesome,” said Kove Pierce College Midfielder. 

 

The Brahmas looked unstoppable heading into the half leading 4-0.

 

Starting forward Michelle Oakes sat out tonight’s game with an ankle injury, anxiously wanting to get out their and play but was limited to just cheering on the sidelines.

 

“I love playing in the rain, so it hurts me more looking at the team playing against Mission College not being able to play,” said Oakes Pierce College forward.

 

The second half rain did not slow down the Lady Brahmas scoring.

 

Mission College turned the heat up with aggressive play knocking the lady Brahmas around, at times players were looking for the referee to pull a card to no avail.

 

Kove was one of those players knocked around yelling to get a call. With no response she responded by scoring the 6th goal of the night putting the Brahmas in a commanding lead.

“This girl [Flor Chavez of Mission College] comes over and knocks me down talks a lot of stuff and then i come back and score another goal,” says Kove of her second goal.

 

Another standout in tonight’s game was Erica Vangsness adding in her two cents with two goals on the night. 

 

“I started off really bad, but my team helped me out and look I ended up with 2 goals,” said Vangsness Pierce Forward.

 

The lady Brahmas thus far are dominating their conference with an unbeaten record of 5-0. Going into their game on Friday Oct.16th against the Renegades of Bakersfield.  The lady Brahmas are looking to win the Western State Conference Southern Division championship and repeat once again.
