A free internship workshop will be available to students at the Transfer Center, located in the new Student Services Building on Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.
Joanna Zimring Towne, Career Center director, said that the maximum capacity of the room is 25 people and she would love to fill the room.
Towne, who has been at Pierce College since January 2009, will be lecturing at the workshop on a variety of topics, some of which include clarifying what internships are, why they are beneficial, and why students should do them.
Her lecture will focus mainly on summer internships and will be talking to students about how to make the most out of an internship, what is expected and how to turn an internship into a career stepping stone.
Towne will also provide resources on how to find internships, especially the off-beat and hard to find ones.
This is the first internship workshop to take place at Pierce under Towne’s supervision.
She hopes to have a “full fledged internship program in the future.”
