Playoff Preview – Pierce vs. Mt. SAC

The Pierce versus Mt. San Antonio, Southern California Bowl on Saturday will have several
key factors in deciding the winner.

First off is how the teams play in the first quarter. Pierce has struggled this season scoring 56 points while allowing 91 points. On the other hand, Mt. SAC has put up impressive numbers, scoring 129 points while allowing only 34.

The fourth quarter will be just as important. Pierce is scoring 119 points while allowing 75. Mt. SAC is scoring 68 points while allowing 54.

The Pierce offensive line will have to find a way to stop Mounties defensive end Bruce Irvin.

Irvin committed to Arizona State has 48 tackles 17 tackles for a loss and 11.5 sacks. Irvin is also the number 2 overall recruit for junior college players in the country.

The Mounties of Mt. SAC will have to find a way to cover the Pierce receiving duo Coleman Edmond and Damon Julian. The two have combined for 77 receptions, 1402 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns. The Mounties are more than capable with a pair of defensive secondary standouts in Austin Daniels and Arness Ikner.

The game takes place Saturday at Mt. SAC at 6 p.m.
