The Pierce Art class 519 will be hosting “Framed!”, an interactive art walk.
The art walk takes place now through Dec. 11.
An opening reception will be held this Wed. at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Student Community Center.
The reception is open to the public.
The exhibition will be located in the Pierce College Art Department courtyard.
Pierce’s art gallery is to be closed for remodeling and with no available gallery, this gives the art students a chance to display some of their innovative artwork in an interesting way.
Students of the Art 519 class are taught how to design art exhibitions.
But since the closing of the gallery, students had to come up with a creative idea of how to display their art.
The students decided to display their art in various parts of the campus and not just throughout Art Hill.
And the art students aren’t the only ones who approve of the idea.
Said Pierce student Alma Torres, “I think it’s really cool that they’re doing this, it would be nice to see art around campus.”
Some of the many types of art that will be put on display include: sculpture, paintings, photography and mixed media.
Muralist Alexander Chistov and information artist Franklin Jones will have their artwork displayed at the exhibit.
Both artist will broadcast via internet connection from within their own displays to heighten the patrons’ experiences.
Maps that indicate areas in which the art will be displayed are available in the Library, Bookstore, and Student Center.
The Great Hall, Swisher Park, Outdoor Staircase, Courtyard Showcase, The Botanical Garden and Performing Arts Building Lookout will be hosting the art displays.
