One of the most successful plays produced during the late Victorian Era, “The Importance of being Earnest” will be premiering this month at the Performing Arts Theater.

“The Importance of being Earnest” is a comedy of mistaken identity, love and the challenges of being ‘Ernest.’

The cast includes :

  • Michael Hovance as Jack Worthing
  • Dana Zlotky as Gwendolen Fairfax
  • Brian Graves as Algernon Moncrieff
  • Sara Wright as Cecily Cardew

Chaos ensues as Jack finds himself living a double life as both Jack of the country and Ernest in town. The story unfolds the truth about true love that opens up a spectacular romance between a man and a woman.

“It is fun trying to find the humor and use of language so rich and so funny,” says Hovance.

This social satire was picked out by Theatre Director Valorie Grear.

For its “Brilliance in use of language how he constructs humor within the language that are intricate and beautifully within the play,” says Grear.

Grear noted how the play offers students very challenging acting roles.

She searched through the student body to find a “wide range of actor[s] and those who have a real desire to keep active.”

In addition, she mentioned to have her cast ready considering it will be a challenge. Overall it is a terrific cast and it will be appealing to the audience according to Grear.

This delivers a very humorous dialouge. A beautiful set of costumes of the upper class English society will be presented.

The performance begins March 19-28 in the Performing Arts Mainstage..
