Spring is approaching, bringing with it flowers, sunshine and several sick students.
With the climate changing, more students will become ill and still attend classes.
Signs posted around campus urge students not feeling well to return home because they may be contagious.
Still, many disregard these signs because they fear falling behind in class.
Students receive homework every day, making it difficult for those who are sick to take the option of staying home.
They push themselves to attend these classes, but provide a low energy level of preparation to the classroom because they feel so horrible. And with class size so high if one or two students are ill they can possibly infect others.
What are students to do?
The solution is simple.
When you’re sick, just stay home.
Yes, making up homework and missed class work can be a difficult process. E-mailing the professor can often take days to receive a response. Having the phone numbers of a few classmates is the best thing to do.
Professors with their own Web sites can make it a lot easier for students by the updating information often for students to quickly find what they missed.
MOODLE is another source that can be used to help all students. It’s an electronic learning platform that serves as a virtual classroom allowing professors to post information for their students.
Moodle is
now available for all professors and they are being encouraged to use it. Using this Web site can help those students that need to know what they missed quickly.
The key to avoid feeling ill is prevention.
If you’re not sick now, get the flu shot. It’s free and it’s on campus.
No excuses.
But if you’re not feeling well, go home.
Somehow you’ll find a way to get your homework and figure out what you missed.
If you’re sick, Take care of yourself, first.
Don’t worry.
