“Direction” is the Pierce College Literary magazine run by students and the faculty sponsor, Maria Bates, the purpose of the magazine it to let student express what is felt in a creative way.
The creative outlet this magazine provides is healthy for the writer to manifest , meanwhile it is a great idea for exploiting a college students work.
The magazine features a variety of different Literary styles from poems, to short stories, even art and Photographs ( black & white).
Any student can submit an article for Direction to publish with the writers consent, but In order to become an official writer for this production contact Professor Maria Bates.
Let’s say a student would like to take it a step further and would like to become an editor for this publication, this requires enrollment in English 32.
English 32 will take place in Fall semester on Mondays from 12:45 – 2:50 p.m. and will be worth 2 units with no required prerequisite.
The rules for the article submission and content is as follows;
- All work must be typed, no names shall appear ( a number will be given to you instead.)
- A publication release form must be signed.
- An envelope with your address is needed if you would like the material returned.
- Poems can be any length, yet only 5 can be submitted per person.
- Fiction. Essays, and Drama can be of any content as long as they do not exceed 2,500 words or over 2 submissions.
- All articles and stories must have been turned in by April 17 2010.
If all of the above requirements are met for each category of literacy in the magazine, a winner will then receive a cash prize.
