The Brahmas shut out Glendale College Tuesday night, with a startling display of athleticism.
The win over Glendale came from hours of intense practicing according to Samantha Potter Team Member.
“We practice as if it were a real game every time,” said Potter. “It’s really like we play a game everyday.”
The determining factor in this game was the impressive serving and offense.
“We really came together,” said Kathleen Wright. “I think we’ve finally hit that peak that is going to carry us forward.”
The Brahmas held the lead the entire game. They bombarded Glendale’s team with fast flying spikes, and bulleting serves.
“The big key was that we didn’t let up even when we had a big lead.” said Sarah Martin.
Pierce is currently ranked number no. 2 in the state, according to Mardini. With the playoffs coming up, Pierce is really showing what they are made of.
If the Brahmas continue to play the way they did on Tuesday night, championship dreams are within sight.
“Not to discount the conference, we still have a few games to win,” said Samantha Potter. “We were born ready for playoffs.”
The Glendale team described as scrappy by Mardini fought hard to stay alive, but too many errors and the astounding blocking by the Brahmas kept them from making any headway.
“It seemed like every time we started to get a groove something would happen,” said Roxanne Domines number 6 on Glendale’s team “We just couldn’t get a rally going”
The next game against Bakersfield on Tuesday Nov. 16 at home will be a test of the teams stability.
“We seem to do really good most games then suddenly really bad one game,” said Kathleen Wright. “I believe we are completely ready for next week, as long as we keep our game consistent.”
Glendale just wasn’t clicking Tuesday night according to Courtney Reid.
“We just weren’t playing the way we usually do,” said Reid. “It seemed like no matter what we did we couldn’t keep it together.”
