ASO President will not return for the spring

ASO President Nick Naczinski will not be returning to Pierce College next semester because he is taking an internship in South America.

Vice President Daniel Axelrod will be taking over for Naczinski as the next interim president in the spring and an election will be held to replace him.

“I’ve been prepared,” said Axelrod.  “It’s not a shock.”

When Naczinski first began his run for the ASO presidency he told the Roundup there was a possibility that he would not be at Pierce for the spring semester and that has turned out to be the case.

“I’m leaving it in capable hands,” Naczinski said.  “There are capable senators that can run for VP.”

Naczinski will be interning for the Argentine Network for International Cooperation and attending a language school.

ASO Advisor Brad Saenz is not sure when elections will take place for the vice president position but thinks it will be in the first three weeks of the new semester.

“He has to officially step down first,” Saenz said.

Naczinski has managed to gather about 700 personalized letters from Pierce students in his efforts to fight fee increases and plans to meet with elected representatives from the state next week.

“When first elected I said I wanted to give back,” Naczinski said.

Naczinski also is in the process of trying to get $10,000 in scholarships for Pierce students to be awarded in $2,500 increments.  The scholarships would be awarded for excellence in many areas including sports, academia and community service.

“I’ll be an email away,” Naczinski said.
