From the end of the Mayan calendar to the alignment of the planets or even the apocalypse people everywhere are wasting their time worrying about something that cannot be proven or stopped if it happens.
Here’s the deal folks even if the world is going to end in December of 2012 there is nothing you can do about it. In recent years I’ve met people who believe that they can prepare for the end of the world by stocking up on water and toilet paper.
The reality of it is, if the world really is ending it’s ending which means nothing and nobody will survive. So I ask the question, what are you preparing for?
It seems to me that every 10-years or so people start worrying about something that is going to destroy the world.
First of all I would like to point out something I learned from the late George Carlin. The planet is not in danger, we are. The planet existed for millions of years before us and will continue to exist millions of years after us.
In the late 1990’s the world was in terror of the Y2K virus and as we all saw that panned out to nothing.
According to the Mayan prediction the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012. This is what is believed to be the last day of the Mayan calendar.
But has anyone considered that the Mayans just got tired of making the calendar. Honestly the Mayans lived thousands of years ago, the fact that their calendar extends to 2012 is a bit ridiculous all on its own.
Yahoo news had an article on Oct. 19 that stated that in a 2010 published book, “Calendars and Years II: Astronomy and Time in the Ancient and Medieval World.” It can be argued that the accepted conversion dates of the old Mayan calendar could be off plus or minus by 50 to 100 years.
Which means even if the Mayans were right we may have some time before it happens. And just as likely the date has already come and gone.
The other hot topic for the end of the world in 2012 is the alignments of the planets. This is an event that we as a species have never seen before.
It is theorized that the gravity of all the planets lining up could flip the polarity of Earth and cause a reversal of the planets magnetic poles.
Now this may happen but the theory is very loose. We have no way of testing this theory and so it is simply guess work.
But again if it does happen there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it. So why worry about something that you can’t control
The truth to all of this is that whether or not the world will end in 2012 is irrelevant. If it happens it happens.
The worst thing anyone can do is stop living like there will be a tomorrow. Because if the world doesn’t end and you have stopped going to work and stop getting things done then on Dec. 22, 2012 or Jan. 1, 2013 the world may not have stopped but you’ll be left with nothing.
It is better to prepare for the future that may not exist than prepare for an end that may not happen. At least if you wrong you won’t be left in the dark.
