Pierce College Students were the feature performance this week in the Concerts at Pierce series which was in a different location for this week in Music 3400.
There were seven performances this week. The students performed songs from Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonio Vivaldi, to a song composed by a student.
The concert opened up with Cara DiMolfetto with singing the song “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan.
Students echoed the nerve that comes with performing on stage with many of your fellow peers watching on.
“I was nervous,” said Arkadiy Garber who played “The Tempest” by Beethoven on the piano. “I didn’t overcome the nerves, but I just enjoyed the music.”
“I give myself a D because I need to get over my anxiety,” said Garber “I’m going to audition and see if I’m back next time.”
“Nervous yes, but it helps that we are a group,” said Nancy Perillo who plays the cello and is part of a group that includes Priscilla Schnieder on the harpsichord, Jay Lawton on the flute, and Bruce Salyer on the clarinet.
The group has performed “Concerto RV 103” during the concert and this is not the first time the group plays in front of a crowd since the group has been together for over a year.
“We get excited when we play, but we don’t look at the audience,” said Schnieder and Perillo “It’s nice being in a group because when one of us makes a mistake one of us can help correct it.”
The Pierce Students Concert was in Music 3400 is because both the Music and Theater Department share the theater in the Performing Arts Building.
“We had a good mix of stuff, some classical and some pop,” said Music Instructor James Bergman “I know some will be back for the next performance since some are music majors.”
The concert concluded with Liza Warfel singing and playing her acoustic guitar playing a song she composed called “Do Ya Think”
Next Thursday at 12:45pm in the Performing Arts Building will be a performance by Brad Dutz and Chris Wabich giving a percussion performance, lecture, and demonstration. As for the next Pierce Students Concert there will be one in May 26.
