Streams of faculty members entered Village 8203 Wednesday to say their goodbyes to Dr. Jacquinita Rose on her last day as the dean of Academic Affairs.
Rose, who was sporting a cowboy hat and a pearly smile on her face during the party, has been working at Pierce College for four years.
One of her fondest memories at Pierce is the first day she came on campus introducing herself to her future coworkers.
“I love the commitment level,” said Rose about the Pierce College staff. “I love that everyone is part of the team.”
During the party, Dean of Academic Affairs Barbara Anderson sang with Rose their own rendition of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”
“I’m going to enjoy my time off and prepare myself for new additional opportunities,” said Rose.
She declined giving any addition information for what she would be doing in the future.
“I’m sad to see her go,” said Instructor of Anthropological and Geographical Sciences Bill Russell, who worked closely with her to get a grant to upgrade the weather station.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Anna Davies said she couldn’t confirm what was to happen with the position.
