The first official practices for the Men’s Volleyball team looking forward to the Spring semester will be held up on Wednesday Sept. 7 and Thursday Sept. 8.
These tryouts will take place from 6 to 8:30 a.m. in the South Gym.
There will be an new face to the volleyball coaching staff this year with the addition of former MVP for the Brahmas Men’s Volleyball state championship team in the year 2000 and eight-year professional volleyball player in Lance Walker.
“We’re looking for guys that have an open mind who fit our system,” said Walker. “This is a test period for us to weight out the weak, see who’s strong, who’s going to stick around and who is going to be successful in life, we want guys who are going to dominate on the court and in the classroom.”
The main focus of the coaching staff for this year will be to build a good positive environment for the players to train in and at the same time give them guidance in the classroom and other areas in life to help them go somewhere, according to Walker.
“Our emphasis is education, 100 percent the school will always comes first and volleyball is a reward.” he concluded.
