The Center for Academic Success will be having workshops for English as a Second Language (ESL), Speed Reading, Vocabulary, and a language arts lab starting Sep. 12 in Village 8407 for students who need help.
ISA Reading Specialist Lori Nelson, Center for Academic Success, said that she started these workshops because, “students need more time to practice to understand what they are reading.” She said that the students that have English 28 are that ones that usually go to these workshop.
Nelson said that she has been having these workshops since last spring and will have them for the fall also. If teachers request more workshops Nelson will start new ones.
She is also making the workshops into videos because the workshops have been so successful. The videos will not be available for this semester however.
The workshops will be hosted Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. After 4 p.m. the workshops will be in Village 8401.
