The Pierce College Women’s Volleyball team traveled to Modesto Jr. College for their first invitational tournament of the season on Friday.
It was an all-day tournament in which the Brahmas played against the colleges of Merced, West Hills, and Porterville earning a win in all three matches.
Pierce coaching staff wasn’t worried for any team according to head coach Nabil Mardini, for it is still early in the season and the Brahmas usually don’t see teams from that conference.
“We haven’t seen the competition yet,” said Mardini. “But we always expect to win.”
This tournament gave an opportunity to work on their player rotation and to see the team’s weaknesses so they can get better at them during practice according to Pierce’s coaching staff.
There are a few new players in the Brahmas’ team this season and they had a lot of playing time during the tournament.
According to head coach Mardini, the new players are “adjusting very well to the system that we play in.”
Next for the Volleyball team is to receive San Bernardino and San Diego Mesa Colleges at Pierce on Friday, Sept. 9 at 2 and 6 p.m. respectively.
