CSUN student arrested after gunman scare on campus

A California State University Northridge (CSUN) student, who indicated he had a gun while he was lying outside the Oviatt Library on campus is being held at the Los Angeles County jail.

The suspect, later identified as Gahren Moradian, a 22-year-old philosophy major from Burbank, was lying on a bench outside the library mumbling incoherently, according to a press release.

After being contacted by library staff the university police evacuated the library, launched a search of the surrounding area and broadcast an emergency message to the university students, according to a press release.

Police were later able to identify Moradian as the suspect after receiving a photo from a student who had taken his picture earlier in the day.

Moradian turned himself in to authorities before 8 p.m.
