Changes to textbook policy announced

A new textbook policy was implemented after much debate at the Academic Senate Meeting last week.

The final changes are that Department chairs are expected, not encouraged, to take into consideration, in the teacher evaluation process, the failure to submit textbook orders in a timely manner.

The Senate also decided that a department can decide how many custom books or bundles can be ordered for one course and recommend that they limit the number to one per course.

The issue is that textbooks bought in bundles can’t be returned and don’t work well in the book buyback program at the end of semesters.
